DAYS OUT IN KENT
The south east of England is extremely diverse and rich in places to visit with its amazing natural features such as the White Cliffs of Dover, its rolling hills dotted with picturesque villages and vineyards and its dramatic coastline along which the medieval Cinque Ports are to be found. Not to mention the historic castles of Dover, Walmer, Hever and Leeds, all so very different and all most definitely worth a visit.
For easy reference, we have divided our tours into 3 categories: Coast, Gardens and Heritage. It all depends on your interests. The tours can be mixed and matched and be of any length, ranging from a simple walking tour around the city of Canterbury to a full day tour with a driver guide in the ‘Garden of England’, as the county of Kent is often called.
You may also wish to spend a few days on the Channel coast following your cruise or your stay in our hectic capital city. There is a wide selection of hotels to choose from and lots to see. You may even be tempted to pop over to France with us for the day!
Coast
You may want to take a walk along the spectacular White Cliffs, visit picturesque St Margaret’s Bay or learn about the local flora and fauna from a ranger at Samphire Hoe. There are also many interesting sites along the coast of Kent related to World War 2 and the Battle of Britain. We can also recommend a walking tour around one of the medieval Cinque Ports such as Sandwich or Rye.
Gardens
Many people associate England with its beautiful gardens. Due to the balmy climate we enjoy in the south east of the country, we have some of the very best gardens to choose from, including Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Hever Castle, Nymans, Scotney Castle and Pashley Manor. We will suggest the very best to visit depending on the time of year.
Heritage
Some of our tours focus on the heritage of our ancient land. If you would like to learn more about our fascinating history, on your tour you may wish to include a castle, a cathedral, a local museum or a famous home. With the knowledge of your own Blue Badge Guide, who will take you through such buildings, our history will be brought alive and you will gain an amazing insight into the places and people that helped make Great Britain what it is today.
