Charming Rye and the Gardens at Sissinghurst

From the Port of Dover, we will head west to the ancient town of Rye, one of the medieval gems in the region. On the way to Rye, you will learn about unique natural features of this part of the Kent coast as well about historical events which happened here throughout the centuries. After exploring and learning about Rye with its tales of smuggling, murder, a bustling marine trade and 19th-century bohemian period, we will have a chance to get some lunch either in a charming tearoom or a traditional pub. After a short scenic drive, we will spend the second half of the day exploring Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, one of the best-known gardens in England and once home to writer and garden designer Vita Sackville-West. We will take an alternate route for our relaxing journey back to Dover Cruise Terminal, taking in more of the enchanting Kentish countryside.
